Gunshow

The trap range will be closed this coming Saturday the 24th, and the following Tuesday the 27th for installation of the new trap throwing machine.

This coming Sunday the 25th will be our annual 245 yd Egg Shoot, or as Caleb would like to say, Extreme Gun Games! The rules: Any gun allowed, any rest under the forestock, but the butt of the stock must not rest on anything with the exception of your hand. No sighters, be prepared to shoot when called! 5 shots in 5 minutes at 5 eggs at 245 yards for position in final shoot-off. Final shoot will be at 1 hen egg at 245 yards and a secondary target at 50 yards. Shoot in any order. Top three finishers are vying for one of 3 skill acknowledgment certificates from a local vendor wishing to recognize a job well done!

The range will be closed Saturday August 21st from 12:00pm until 5:00pm to allow for CCW training classes. Classroom portion of the class will be conducted at the Paradise Airport on the morning of the 21st. Cost of class for Butte CCW is $75, or $110 for Butte and Florida which will allow carry in 32 states. Contact Forrest at 530-872-9457 or Caleb at 530-872-4229.

Larry Wilkins and Neil Potts are providing RSO duty for Thursday mornings from 9am to 1pm. Larry and Neil will be unable to act as RSO's during the time from July 29 to August 5 as they will in Chilliwack, BC for the BCRA F-Class Championships. The club wishes them the best of luck. In the mean time, contact Forrest at 530-872-9457 if you need a RSO during that time. Bob Aldrin is also performing RSO duty on Wednesday 9am to 1pm. Be sure to thank them for stepping up for duty.

Paradise Sporting Goods now has fishing licenses for sale and hunting licenses will be available when released by the state.

The trap range is once again in operation on Saturdays and Tuesdays 9am-1pm. The newly finished platforms now allow 5 positions in one yard increments from 16 yards to 27 yards.

Members interested in attaining NRA Chief Range Safety Officer level should contact Forrest Holnbach at 530-872-9457 to arrange training.

NRA training and certification classes are now available from our Chief Range Safety Officer, Forrest Holnbach. Forrest is an NRA certified training counselor/instructor and offers the following classes: Certified Home Firearms Safety, Metallic Cartridge Reloading, Shotgun Shell Reloading, Certified Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun. As far as we know, Forrest is the only training instructor in Butte County, and one of very few in Northern California. What this means to you is that travel to central California is no longer required to participate in these classes, so costs are greatly reduced. Call Forrest at 530-872-9457 for information.

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH RIFLE SHOOTING 2010

We offer Rifle Shooting classes for several youth groups such as the Boy Scouts and California Waterfowl Youth on a continuous as-needed basis. To arrange range use for your youth group, call Forrest Holnbach at 530-872-9457.

HONE YOUR SHOOTING SKILLS...EARN A PATCH!

The Paradise Rod and Gun Club, Inc. is starting the "NRA Qualification Program" at our range. This program is open to all club members regardless of age. NRA qualifications achieved while shooting under the clubs' control, will be rewarded with the corresponding award for the discipline fired. This will be a patch and rockers for Pro-Marksman through Expert, and the full packet for distinguished-expert. These awards will be presented by the club.

This is a chance for all of us to be able to shoot with our friends on our range and have one heck of a good time doing it. Shooting will be done on Sunday's (weather permitting) with show up times of 8:30 A.M. for safety and range instructions and shooting from 9:00 A.M. until finished. Targets and record keeping will be provided by the club. There will be a $5.00 charge per shoot, but this also allows you to shoot the rest of the day.

This is a NRA Qualification shoot, not a competition. It gives all of us a chance to go out and shoot, and to be acknowledged and rewarded for our skills achieved. With our current range facilities, we have offered these NRA qualification shoots in the past:

Handgun

Bulls-Eye pistol

Light Rifle

High Power Rifle (Service Rifle, Sporting Rifle)

Shotgun (Trap) currently ongoing

As interest develops, we can offer additional NRA qualification shoots in the following disciplines:

International Air Pistol

International Air Rifle

Four position rifle (BB Gun, Air Rifle, Small Bore)

American Rifleman

Muzzle Loading Firearms (Rifle, Musket, Pistol, Revolver, Shotgun)

Sport Rifle (Rifle, Pistol, Shotguns, Air Guns, Muzzle Loaders)

Pretty much if it is safe and shoots, we can have a NRA Qualification for it. This could be a great opportunity to dust off those Garands we have setting around and put them back to use shooting.

For further information on this or if you just want to share some ideas or opinions, give Caleb Chinn a call at 530-877-2161. If no answer, please leave a message.

CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE ON HIGH POWER RIFLE RANGE!

THE HIGH POWER RIFLE RANGE IS NOW OPEN! Members can shoot at the rifle range 7 days a week from 9am to 1 hour before sunset! RSO must be present and range fee for rifle range is $5. A large concrete parking pad and walkway for our less abled members is adjacent to the shooting platform. We want all of our members to be able to enjoy our facilities comfortably. A very special thank you to AGS Construction for the quality work they provided. See out Photo Gallery for pictures of ongoing construction of the rifle range.
