NRA training and certification classes are now available from our Chief Range Safety Officer, Forrest Holnbach. Forrest is an NRA certified training counselor/instructor and offers the following classes: Certified Home Firearms Safety, Metallic Cartridge Reloading, Shotgun Shell Reloading, Certified Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun. As far as we know, Forrest is the only training instructor in Butte County, and one of very few in Northern California. What this means to you is that travel to central California is no longer required to participate in these classes, so costs are greatly reduced. Call Forrest at 530-872-9457 for information.
NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH RIFLE SHOOTING 2008
To date in 2008, we have offered Rifle Shooting classes for the Boy Scouts and California Waterfowl Youth. To arrange range use for your youth group, call Forrest Holnbach at 530-872-9457.
HONE YOUR SHOOTING SKILLS...EARN A PATCH!
The Paradise Rod and Gun Club, Inc. is starting the "NRA Qualification Program" at our range. This program is open to all club members regardless of age. NRA qualifications achieved while shooting under the clubs' control, will be rewarded with the corresponding award for the discipline fired. This will be a patch and rockers for Pro-Marksman through Expert, and the full packet for distinguished-expert. These awards will be presented by the club.
This is a chance for all of us to be able to shoot with our friends on our range and have one heck of a good time doing it. Shooting will be done on Sunday's (weather permitting) with show up times of 8:30 A.M. for safety and range instructions and shooting from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Targets and record keeping will be provided by the club. There will be a $5.00 charge per shoot, but this also allows you to shoot the rest of the day.
The first discipline we are going to work on is the "NRA Handgun Qualifications". This allows for the use of any safe semi-auto pistol or revolver of any caliber. Metallic, telescopic, or electronic sights may be used. Each shooter will be required to provide a firearm, proper ammunition, hearing and eye protection.
This is a NRA Qualification shoot, not a competition. It gives all of us a chance to go out and shoot, and to be acknowledged and rewarded for our skills achieved. With our current range facilities, we can have our NRA qualification shoots in the following disciplines:
1. Handgun
2. Bulls-Eye pistol
3. International Air Pistol
4. International Air Rifle
5. Four position rifle (BB Gun, Air Rifle, Small Bore)
6. Light Rifle
7. American Rifleman
8. High Power Rifle (Service Rifle, Sporting Rifle)
9. Shotgun (Trap)
10. Muzzle Loading Firearms (Rifle, Musket, Pistol, Revolver, Shotgun)
11. Sport Rifle (Rifle, Pistol, Shotguns, Air Guns, Muzzle Loaders)
Pretty much if it is safe and shoots, we can have a NRA Qualification for it. This could be a great opportunity to dust off those Garands we have setting around and put them back to use shooting.
For further information on this or if you just want to share some ideas or opinions, give Caleb Chinn a call at 530-877-2161. If no answer, please leave a message.
